The Kristen Grote Legacy 5K
honors the memory of Kristen, a fun-loving, vibrant little girl who
loved Jesus and touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
Kristen's legacy will continue as the memory of her life is used to
reach out and enhance the lives of children in the community.
The first KGL5K was held in May 2005 with over 600 participants on a
beautiful spring day. Over $20,000 was raised for the Kristen Grote
Memorial Fund and Tawney Powell, a young girl undergoing treatments
for cancer. In 2006, we were blessed once again with perfect weather
and had over 550 participants. We raised over $16,000 for the
Kristen Grote Memorial Fund and Andrew Creighton, a local middle
school student with Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
Our third and final race was held on May 5, 2007, with a 5K
run/walk at 8:00 and a one mile family run/walk at 9:15. Our goal
for the last race day is to provide another fun family event for our
community, to celebrate and remember Kristen’s life, and also to
make a difference in the lives of other local children. Race
recipients for this year include Jameson Ward, a travel fund for
Comfort Zone Camp®, and the Kristen Grote Memorial Fund.
TSS Photography
will take pictures at the finish line and after the race. They
will be available on our website 24 hours after the race. All
proceeds will be donated to the Kristen Grote Legacy 5K. |
